In yours and my DNA there is a direct link back to life on earth some 3 billion years ago – back to Archaea – one of the first single celled organisms. This link is a single gene on our sixth chromosome (the gene is called EEF1ALPHA1) which exists in every living thing that tells cells how to read the instructions encoded in other genes.
It seems that archea swallowed a bacterium – the bacteria evolved into mitochondria and therefore gave power to cells (a little battery) and complex life evolved.
So all of life is connected chemically – a resonating base pair sequence creating amino acids and hence proteins.
