Going Upstream

Fisherman Loy yang River

In Loy Yang in Old China a flash flood occurred in a small village. It quickly subsided but the river was still full and flowing fast. Wei Shi saw that her husband’s boat was smashed against the bank and he was missing.

The people gathering on the bank cried “your husband has fallen in, quickly save him”. She dived in and began swimming upstream. The crowd shouted “what are you doing – your husband would have been swept downstream”. Wei Shi said “nonsense I know my husband. He can only go upstream”.
