An Almost Psychedelic Eating Experience

bulahdelah-motel

There are many strange things in this world. My partner and I stayed in a motel in Australia recently on a journey to Sydney. It was located just off a highway in a small country town called Bulahdelah. The reason we chose this place was because of the rave reviews on Trip Advisor about the restaurant in the motel. On arrival, after seeing our room, I was in a state of bewilderment. It was clean but sort of horrible. How could the restaurant be soo good?

Anyway we decided to give the restaurant a go as there was nothing else in this little town at night except fish and chips and burgers etc. Upon entering the restaurant I thought I had just taken some peyote. The contrast between outside and inside was so great that my body and mind went into a disarrangement. Could I have just gone down the rabbit hole?

Check out the pic. It was all white tablecloths with fine cutlery. The plates had some sort of family insignia as well as the psychedelic carpet. There were plastic plants everywhere – we had entered the Day of the Triffids – the couple in the pic are surrounded by them. The exposed brown brick and curtains decorating the walls were to behold.

So we sat down for dinner and the menu was simple and dishes expensive. I ended up having clams with angel hair pasta which was simply superb and my partner the duck which was equally good.

So if you are ever in the Bulahdelah area then you shouldn’t miss out on the restaurant at the Motor Lodge. I treasure these experiences. Strange things in an often strange world.
